Granite

This stone is formed by the cooling of magma deep in the earth’s crust. The Outward appearance is usually dappled, some granite are also metamorphic in origin, having been created by the transformation of existing magmatic stone under high pressure (for example, during the development of mountain ranges).

It is a very hard material and easier to maintain than marble. Yet, it is still porous and will stain. Usually comes in dark colors and contains very little calcite, if any. Coarse grained texture, has a uniformly dispersed crystalline structure, commonly finished with a polish.

Typical Uses: Exterior structural uses, bases, trim, and paving. Stair treads, countertops, tile slabs, and decorative interior uses.
